Mission Statement

The purpose of the Rodeo Chamber of Commerce is to encourage and assist the development of business and commerce in the town of Rodeo.

It is our conviction that the relationship between the town and its businesses is a two-way street: healthy businesses bring vitality to the community, while a dynamic community fosters successful commercial opportunities.

By working together, the members of the Rodeo Chamber of Commerce will pursue the objectives of strength and vitality for both the town of Rodeo and for its businesses.

Business Community

Welcome to RodeoRodeo has an active Chamber of Commerce that supports revitalization and has a strong sense of commitment to a mixed use downtown environment. The community is adjacent to I-80, offering businesses access to a potentially larger market.

In addition to implementing local improvements, the Contra Costa Redevelopment Agency can offer assistance in obtaining permits, provision of infrastructure, direct financial assistance to businesses, and site assembly on all development projects within the CCREACH, saving the developer/business owner valuable time and money. To expedite business development, Contra Costa County offers fast-track permitting. Plans to establish a P-1 zoning to standardize development conditions, policies and procedures have been completed.

Rodeo companies that use recycled products in their production process may qualify for special low-interest loans and other incentives through the Contra Costa Recycling Market Development Zone.

In addition to the Redevelopment Agency and Chamber of Commerce, business development assistance is available from the Contra Costa Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

The Rodeo area is largely residential, with commercial areas serving local residents. Rodeo's small-town revival is creating a market for restaurants and delicatessens, small grocery stores with carry-out food, coffee houses and/or bookstores, art galleries and/or antique stores, other businesses with a recreation, wildlife or preservationist theme. The Marina area offers opportunities for further development with a recreational theme such as wind surfing and fishing. Development adjacent to the freeway is more residential in nature.
Local Employment Opportunities

The largest local employers include producers of petroleum products, electrical equipment, packing and wrapping machinery, cabinets and plastics. Biotechnology and food processing companies in nearby communities also employ Rodeo residents.

The largest non-manufacturing employers include grocery stores, elementary and secondary schools, restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, and a public golf course. Home-based businesses are also growing in popularity throughout Rodeo.

Vocational Schools & Training Programs
Over 25 vocational schools provide specialized education in Contra Costa County. Training is available in computers and technology, truck driving, radiology, aviation, and broadcasting. There are also five public programs oriented to adult education, ranging from basic skills to occupational skills. The Workforce Investment Board (WIB) offers career training and hiring services to Rodeo residents and businesses through its West County regional office. The Rodeo/Crockett Local Hire Outreach Program, located on Parker Avenue in Rodeo, has assisted over 150 local workers in gaining employment since its inception.
Regional Transportation

Rodeo is located in the heart of a world-class transportation center -- the San Francisco Bay Area. The community is located near the juncture of I-80, the direct San Francisco/Sacramento route, and State Highway 4, the major east/west artery in Central Contra Costa County. The recent Cummings Skyway extension now provides quick access to San Pablo Avenue from I-80 and Highway 4.

Buchanan Field, a general aviation airport, is located just 15 miles away in Concord. Four hub airports are located less than 60 miles away (Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento). Seven ports are located nearby, including Richmond, California's third largest in annual tonnage, and Oakland, which accounts for nearly 5 percent of U.S. exports. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe railway skirts the south side of the community. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), the light rail service covering most of the Bay Area, has a station conveniently located 9 miles south in the City of Richmond. WestCAT provides direct bus transportation from Rodeo to west county locations including the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station.
